She's Here!!

For those of you who don't follow Facebook on a regular basis & who I may not have been in touch with lately....

Clara Harmony Davis arrived on Friday, August 23, 2013 @ 5:24pm.  She weighed in at 6lbs 10.7oz & was 19 1/4" long.

I was blessed to be in the delivery and was with the birthmother for the entire process.  What a miracle.  I can't even begin to share my emotions throughout this journey.  There have been days that were incredibly difficult & there have been moments of rejoicing, but ultimately, GOD has been bigger than any of the turmoil!!!!

So, Clara was born & immediately taken to the NICU.  The nurses & Dr.'s were prepared for what they would face.  I was escorted there with her & as the professionals began their work on her, I was sat in a comfy chair & was being talked to about everything that was going on throughout the entire time.  About 5 minutes after we were in NICU, I looked out the window & it had started to rain.  But, it just wasn't raining.  The sun was shining down & right there was a big bright rainbow!  I accepted that as God's promise that He would take care of her.  I knew in my heart that we had been praying protection over Clara for a long time & MANY of you had been joining us in those prayers & God was listening!  He was taking good care of her & He gave me an outward sign that He promised to continue to do so.  It was amazing. I commented to the nurses & Dr. about it & we all rejoiced with that glorious fact.  Miss Clara's life has already started to touch others!

In the week since Clara's birth we have been spending as much time at the NICU as physically possible.  It has been a challenge some days, but, we have worked it out.  Dan has taken a couple weeks off of work which has been a HUGE blessing!  She has been weaned down on the morphine to take her off of the addiction to methadone and the Dr. gave us encouraging words this morning that with in the next week she will be tried without any medicine completely!  Woo hoo!  God is doing it!  He is taking such good care of her!!!!

We are all in love with this angel, but I can tell you, no one has greater love for her than her big brother.  Eli is completely smitten with her.  He wants to be with her all the time & loves holding her any chance he gets.  I can't say I see Eli sit still very often, but when he holds Clara he can sit still for 20 -30 minute clips.  AMAZING!

Eli started school on Monday the 26th.  His first day of Kindergarten was great.  He did so well.  It has been the days since that we struggle to get him to go.  Please continue to pray for him & us as we deal with this anxiety.

There is so much more I could share, but honestly, I am going to let some pictures talk for me.  I will try to keep you updated as time permits.  I know one thing for sure, we are humbled and blessed with all the prayers, love & encouragement we have been receiving.  We appreciate every expression of love.
